Early this evening, the Senate passed HR 2676, the IRS Reform bill 97-0.

CONGRESS -- TODAY (5/7):
SENATE:
Passed 97-0 H.R. 2676 - IRS Reform Bill.
         [SAP sent, 5/5: Administration supports passage, with modifications
        and has serious concerns about costs]
While under consideration today, the Senate took the following actions on
the bill:
o Defeated 42-57 the Thompson/Sessions amendment re: the Oversight Board
o Defeated 35-64 the Faircloth amendment to remove the union rep from the
Board
o Defeated 40-59 the Mack amendment to remove the Treasury Secretary from
the Board

HOUSE:
Adopted (voice)H.R. 3694 - Intelligence Authorization Act for FY 1999
        [SAP sent, 5/7: Administration supports]

Adopted (voice) the motion to go to conference on HR 2646 - Coverdell
Education Savings Account conference report, and rejected (192-222) Rangel
Motion to Instruct Conferees on HR 2646 to agree to provisions regarding
tax favored financing for public school construction.

HOUSE:
On the tentative House schedule is an ISTEA conference report (Raines

gambling, and the FY99 budget resolution.  Campaign finance is also
