 SUBJECT:   LEGISLATIVE REPORT

 RECONCILIATION
 The House Passed H.R. 2015, the spending portion of the Budget Reconciliation
 package 270-162.  Only 51 Democrats supported the measure, and 219 Republicans
 supported the measure.  Only seven Republicans opposed the bill: King (NY),
 McIntosh (IN), Metcalf (WA) , Moran (KS), Paul (TX), Salmon (AZ), and Stearns
 (FL) .

 Earlier today, the House passed both the Solomon motion (222-204) to order the
 previous question (thus ending the debate and the possibility of amendment) on
 adoption of the rule for Budget Reconciliation and H.Res. 174 (228-200), the
 rule for Budget Reconciliation



 The Senate passed S.947, the spending portion of the Budget Reconciliation
 package by a vote of 73 to 27. Eighteen Democrats voted for the measure, and
 52 Republicans supported the bill. Only four Republicans opposed the bill:
 Reed (RI), Helms (NC) , Grams (MN), and Faircloth (NC).

 While under consideration, the Senate took action on a number of amendments on
 S. 947.  For a complete list of the amendments please call 5-4790.

 CONGRESS TODAY (6/25):
 SENATE
 Began consideration of S. 949 - Revenue Reconciliation Act. Amendments offered
 through the evening, but any votes that are ordered will be stacked to occur
 Thursday morning.

 Passed (304-120) H.R. 1119 - National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal
 Years 1998 and 1999
  [SAP sent 6/19: Senior Advisors Recommend Veto]

 While under consideration, the House took the following action on H.R. 1119:
 o Rejected (204-219) Rohrabacher amendment which would have prohibited DoD
 funding for the Nunn-Lugar program if Russia transferred an SSN-22 missile
 system to China.

 Passed (386-20) H.Con.Res. 102 - Cost of Government Day Act
