Because they could not reach resolution last night regarding H.Res. 91, a
Committee Funding Resolution, the House met today to conclude their
business:

Adopted (218-179) H.Res 91, Committee Funding Resolution;
a Adopted (218-179) the Rule for consideration;
a Rejected (176-214) a Gejdenson (D-CN) motion to recommit, with
instructions to         freeze the funding at the FY96 level, and to
exclude a reserve fund for              unexpected expenses.


Also today, the US District Court held oral arguments in Byrd v. Raines,
on the line item veto case.

CONGRESS        LONG TERM SCHEDULE:

SENATE
Monday, April 7th
The Senate reconvenes from 12 noon to 1:00 pm for morning business,
followed by debate on the motion to proceed to debate on S. 104, the
Nuclear Waste Policy Act of 1997 (cloture vote on Tuesday) .

Tuesday, April 8th
At 2:30 pm, the Senate will vote on cloture on the motion to proceed to S.
